Attended camp from 1963 to 1973
My fondest memories of camp are too numerous to list here. Camp Wa-Klo is much of who I am today. I always loved to swim and be near the water at camp. Last summer my husband and I had a swimming pool installed in the backyard so that my children and I can swim whenever we want to! We are the only family in the neighborhood who swims when it is raining! Now that we also have a privacy fence, maybe we'll try skinny dipping! Where did I learn such things? Only one problem. My son is a Boy Scout!
My family and I just returned from New York City where we spent the weekend with two very close friends from Wa-Klo! Margie Newman and Ellen Kaufman showed us the sights. This was our first visit to the city, even though we have been invited many times. We can't wait to go again! Thank you Wa-Klo for bringing us all together.

What a summer!!!! First day going out to the Park and my twin sister Daniella was playing ball "against me". She hit me in the middle of the eye. My trip was to the Doctor downtown. She brought me a beutiful bear that I treasure very much. I really enjoyed being there. I want to come back as a LTG

Attended camp from 1981 to 1987
I have so many wonderful memories of the six summers I spent at Wa-Klo that I couldn't possibly record them all here. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to experience all that I did at camp. The lessons I learned and the friends I made will be with me forever. How! How!

I am a creative writing major, but I am still searching for a way to articulate what it was that made wa-klo so special. To describe it to others is like describing a dream. I feel I can never make it as vivid as it should be. One of my fondest memories would have to be the last night of camp in 1994. Sue Locascio and I were amoung those who decided to stay up all night. At around 2 in the morning, we snuck down the dirt road to the Boy Scout camp and pried their "Slow Scouts Crossing" sign off a pole. We carried our prize home, laughing all the way, and I still have my half of the sign. There are, of course, more wholesome memories of tennis and kayaking and searching for frogs in the stream that runs through camp. I guess the point is that everything a girl does at wa-klo forms the most amazing memories.

How great to find the Wa-Klo web address in the back of this Sunday's New York Times! My summers at camp were some of the happiest times I've had. My youngest daughter is only 20 months old so we've got a ways to go before we start buying green t-shirts, but I certainly hope she too will love being "a Wa-Klo girl." The friends, fun, skills and confidence I found in my summers at camp will always be a part of my life - thank you to those campers and counselors who helped make those summers so wonderful. Anyone hear from Kath Barry?

Attended camp from 1987-1992
My favorite memories were of cheering at campfires, of Sunday dinners with those sticky-buns, and of singing while Miss Cheneye and Miss Boyd played their guitars. I remember getting kicked out of Way-Out because I smelled like the back end of a horse, meeting the 'love of my life'(ie. an incredibly cute Australian counselor) at a social with Camp Half-Moon, and tubing during free-choice. I remember those distgusting mud-green bathing suits we all had to wear before forest green was fashionable, those misty mornings when Monadnock didn't exist and then majically appeared form the clouds, and those clear summer mornings when I coulnd't imagine anything more beautiful that the view across Thordike...riding at Honeylane, consuming Quick in untold quantities, putting my feet on Slaon Crosely's pillow (I think she's still mad at me for that one), giggling till three in the morning and then racing to flag pulling on my green sweats ...most of all I remember going back one summer not too long ago and singing "It's time to leave, its time to say good-bye" at campfire and knowing that I could always come back.

Attended camp from 1964-1978
Camp Wa-Klo is the best place to spend the summer. It has so many memories for me and my sisters, Debbie and Sarah. I have taken my family back to visit camp before it opens to enjoy the facilities and took my daughter their one time for a campfire night. My only wish is that someone who remembers all Miss Kloberg's sayings would publish them for us to have as a rememberance. I remember some of them but not all. I live here in the D.C. area with Ann Davidson Stevens nearby. We talk about camp all the time and all the fun. Don't have much contact with those who attended while I was there so . . . feel free to email me.
I miss my summers at camp when life was simple. GO GREEN TRIBE !

Attended camp from 1986-1991
More than anything.... the friends. No matter how much time and distance are between us, we always seem able to pick up where we left off. As I pack for Lisa Fazio's wedding this weekend, and remind myself that I have to write Heather Tannen back, I sit in wonder of the incredible bonds that I made a Wa-Klo which will last me a lifetime. I hope it never changes.

I'm not sure where to begin...Camp was an incredible experience. Being an LTG for 3 years, then a counselor for 3 years. I have some wonderful memories. It was great fun to bring my husband and 2 boys there for the day a few summers ago. We went with very special friends Daryl (Detmer) Thornton and her family. The kids loved boating on the lake, and now that we have a daughter maybe she'll get to go to camp one day!! Daryl and I often talk about camp and all the fond memories, the kids expressions are priceless when we break out in song!! Lori Goldenberg, Jeannie Reponen, Sheryl Cohen..where are you??!! I think I had all of you as my campers for at least 2 of the 3 years I was a counselor!! Meredith Raynor....where are you? The list goes on and on.... Sitting at Turtle Rock was so peaceful, it felt as if we were far from the world. Too many memories to write down. We are all very lucky to have been able to have the Wa-Klo summers we did.

Attended camp from 1973- ? (9 Years off and on)
I HAD SO MUCH FUN AT CAMP THAT I COULDN'T EVEN BEGIN TO LIST THEM ALL. I THINK THE BEST THING IS ALL THE PEOPLE WE MET FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD AND NOW WITH COMPUTERS WE CAN LOOK FOR THEM AGAIN. MY DAUGHTER IS KATE MARION. SHE WILL BE ATTENDING HER 11TH SUMMER AT CAMP. LAST SUMMER SHE WAS BIG CHIEF. (I DIDNT EVEN DO THAT). MISS KLOBERG ALWAYS CALLED HER HER LITTLE HELPER. WHEN SHE GAVE HER FINAL SPEACH AT COUNCIL FIRE SHE SAID "MISS KLOBERG IF YOU COULD SEE YOUR LITTLE HELPER NOW" I WAS SO TOUCHED BY HOW CLOSE THEY WERE. I SAW SUE STUART'S MESSAGE. SHE WAS MY FIRST COUNSELOR IN ROOM 4. HI SUE. ALSO HI TO DARYL DETMER AND ANN DAVIDSON. ANN I WILL HAVE JEANNE EMAIL YOU WHEN SHE GETS HOME FROM FLORIDA. RECENTLY HEARD FROM ALI RAYNOR AND FINALLY GOT IN TOUCH WITH HER BROTHER SETH. WE SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER REUNION. WOULD BE NICE TO SEE EVERYONE AGAIN. WOULD LIKE TO SAY HI TO: RONA GLADSTONE, NANCY ESKENAZI (FORGOT HOW TO SPELL IT) LYNN SHAPIRO, LORI GOLDENBERG. DANA FRANK,!
CAROLA AGUIRRE, JOSIE BERGERON AND SO MANY MORE. I GUESS MY BIG THING WITH CAMP IS THAT MY DAUGHER IS ENJOYING IT JUST AS MUCH AS I DID. SHE HAS PLANS OF GOING THERE FOREVER.

Attended camp from 1995-?
My fondest memory from camp was in the first month when Dana B., Amanda L., and I were in our beds in Reveille and it was a very boring rest period. All of a sudden without even meaning to, Amanda started banging her deoderant can very softly on her trunk to the tune of "Micky". I wasn't thinking anything of it, and without noticing it, I started to bang my miniature fan on my trunk too. All of a sudden, Dana started to burst out into song, singing(in a very loud voice) "Hey Micky what a pitty you don't understand, you take me by the heart when you take me by the hand!" Ever since then, we've always joked about it.

Attended camp from 1990-1995
I have so many fond memories of camp from each year I attended. Camp is extremely important to me because this was where I learned how to become independent, how to make true friendships that will last a lifetime, and how to improve my creative skills from a variety of activities. Most important, I doubt I would have become a second term AmeriCorps member, nor would I be continuing to study and teach Englsh as a Second Language, which is what I've been tutoring since the summer of 1993 at camp! In fact, I'm planning to transfer with my AA degree from a community college in Baltimore to Boston University for my BA and MAT, and I can't wait! I was really glad to visit camp in 1997 and I can't wait to visit again this
August :~) Please feel free to keep in touch with me. Thanks!

Attended camp from 77ish to 79ish
My fondest memories do not include washing my hair in the lake, those obnoxious green bathing suits that we used to fill with water and pretend we had boobs, or being blown out of bed every cold damp morning to Revele. I do have great memories of my camp friends (Laura Gross and Elise Ostenberg, where are you!!!???) and I seem to remember getting into a lot of trouble, playing a lot of jacks, eating a lot of candy (care packages), discovering green Jolly Ranchers at Sugar Shack (still a lifelong passion), Silver Ranch, sunday morning breakfast in feety pajamas, Halloween, and the rolls they had in the dining room.

I only have one year of camp to go on but I can honestly say I loved every part of it! When I first arrived I was very nervous, thousands of miles from home and no idea what to expect. I soon settled in!!!! The directors, other counsellors (Hi everyone :)) and especially my campers Nina, Amanda, Dana, Leslie, Ella, Katie and Sarah were so great, I 'll never forget them. Girls, you are so precious to me and our memories of Revielle and Tip It will stay in my heart forever. (Nina, the "Mickey" moment was brilliant! I just read your note and laughed!! Love you!!) I'm due to return to Camp in four weeks and I am sure I will have loads more happy memories and times.
Can't wait to see you all. (Email me if you get the time.)
