Memory: Hellooooo everyone!!! I miss camp waklo so much!!!! This was my first year and I and so glad to be going back next year (2002)!!! Waklo was the best camp Ive ever been to. I enjoyed every moment of it especially water skiing, ballet, and softball. Everything was great and I loved all the trips away from camp but my most fondest memory at camp last year (2001) was the ropes course trip. We stayed in a lovely resort where there was a pool, tv, great food, and even a game room. In the morning we went into the woods and there were many rope activity to do. Starting with all the low ropes then moving on to the high ropes up in tree where to had to clime up trees to get to. The worst part was I am terrified of hights and I always was since I was 2yrs old and I fell of a slide. I was very scared and by the time I was have way up the tree I was shaking. I know I could succeed if I tried so I did and I made it I had climed across a high rope.It was so much FUN!!! I miss everyone so much!!!!~~~~~Cya soon(hopefully)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<3 ya ~KaTiE

Memory: I remember when the lower inters had the dance with the scouts and every girl was excited. The night before the dance Side Out 1 and Side 2 where making fun of the scouts in puke green uniforms. All the girls came into Side Out 2 dressed in shorts that were pulled up all the way to their ribs {as far as they would go up}.We had the music volume up really high so we were dancing the whole night long .{not the night but for an hour.}Then when the scouts showed up their were not wearing the puke green uniform and all of the Side Out girls started raking up , because they had just regular clothes on just like us. That was one of the many memorys I have of Waklo 2001.

Memory: My best memories of camp- I have new memories now since I attended the reunion...Seeing Carlyene Prince after all those years, line dancing with Miss Jensen, being stripped half naked at council fire by my dear counselor Daryl Detmer and eating at the head table. Of course, I got to re-live some old memories. Since my sister was at the reunion, I got to re-live walking through Wa-klo with her, singing grace, flag ceremonies and council fire. It was wonderful.

Memory: Camp was so wonderful. So much of who I am comes from my years at Wa-Klo. To this day, hiking through the woods or sitting by a lake gives me a tremendous sense of peace and comfort. I have so many warm & fuzzy memories: Cool mornings walking to cracker barrel for breakfast, sitting in the green chairs overlooking the lake, sugar shack & rainy day movies in Jen-Klo, lying on the swim docks getting tan, wash-up swims, competing tribes at council fire and screaming tribe songs, being so proud of getting beads and patches, Sunday sticky buns, singing songs with arms around my friends, staying up late talking (and eating oreos & squeeze cheese), Fight White '86, listening to Miss Kloberg talk about nature & friendship& sportsmanship & being true to yourself, laughing with Miss Cocoman in the Area, late night swims, boyscout dances (ew!), singing at vespers, listening to taps in bed, climbing Mt. Monadnock, awards banquet, crying my eyes out on the last night of camp...I could go on & on (obviously!) Thank you Wa-Klo, you were a very special influence in my life. To current campers: Enjoy every moment because this kind of camraderie comes once in a lifetime. To old friends: Liz Clark, Vicky Palmer, Marlena Demenus, Liz & Kathy Nastro, Kara Naughton, Nancy Salem, Hilary Demby... I'd love to hear from you and I hope you are well.

Attended camp: 2002
Memory: My foundest memories of camp would have to be when me and my bunk hung out. The olympics were fun, so were all the tribe events, and all the activites but nothing was could even come close to the fun of bonding with my bunk. We had so much fun together. Together we all made each other laugh. And when i felt sad all i had to do was turn to them and they were right by my side. 2002 was definetley a summer to cherish and remembr. And now that i hear that some people might not be coming back i think to myself that i may not see them anymore but in my heart i still have all the memories to look back on. I keep telling myself not to be sad that they are leaving but be glad that they came. (touching i no!) -Miss You Guys!! |
