The best thing about camp is now.. My daughter Kate Marion left today for her 10th summer at Wa-Klo. She is an upper pioneer and most likely will be "Tribe Chief" She has been waiting for this day ever since she left last summer. I am thrilled that she loves camp this much. I can't think of a better place for her to spend her summer. jUST WANT TO SAY HI TO A FEW PEOPLE: MARILYN LASMAN, KATE TREADWELL, SARAH DETMER, SETH RAYNOR, LORI GOLDENBERG, RONA GLADSTONE, E MAIL ME IF YOU GET THIS MESSAGE.
KATE, IF YOU SEE THIS MESSAGE I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFULL SUMMER AND SEE YOU PARENTS WEEKEND....

7-7-99 Wendy Beth Glass
Attended camp from 1980-1991.
Playing tennis and muscial drama. But, most of all when it was close to the last council fire and I had to drop a ski to pass waterskiing. Miss Cocoman and the teacher got me up way before breakfast and got me to drop my ski. But,in the middle of all this I lost the top of my bathing suit and the boyscouts were having their morning swim. If you read this and remember me please e-mail me. I would love to catch up.

7-27-99 Alli Raynor
Attended camp from 1963 to 1976.
The memories are so many that I could write for pages and not be done. Camp is as alive in my heart now as it was when I was on the well-raked paths, or swimming furiously in the lake, or sneaking food out of the pantry... I would love to hear from anyone and everyone. My best friend's daughter went to camp for two summers and that was so special for me, as I have no children. She had a wonderful time at camp, and now we share that love in common. She also got to meet and love Miss Kloberg like I did as a little girl. Camp made me part of who I am today. I love being a Wa-Klo girl. And for all of you who might remember, Lester, the sock monkey, is just fine. And, I still own a pair of saddle shoes! :)

8-28-99 Beverly Riling(Smithson)
Attended camp from 1965 to 1968.
My sister Sandy and I attended camp during the sixties. I just returned with my family to visit this July and Wa-Klo looks great! I was glad to see that it is exactly as I remembered but better. Still crisp, green buildings and whenever I smell pine, I remember the pinetrees. I've been in the Maryland area for 28 years and although I have never run into anyone from Wa-Klo down here, I still remember those summers fondly. Thank you Miss Jenson, Ms. Cocoman and Ms. Fletcher for keeping Wa-Klo alive and thriving!

11-24-99 Ali Hirsh
Attended camp from 1990-1996.
I have so many absolutely amazing memories from Wa-klo that it's hard to pick one. But I have to say that my fondest memory of camp, or at least the one that makes me laugh the most, was during the last week of my lower pioneer year. The whole camp had to meet in Jen-Klo to learn and practice all the final songs Like "1-9-9-4 at camp waklo.." and "light one candle" and the counselor song. Well, i was serving dinner that day and didn't feel like relearning all the songs i already knew, so i cleaned up Cracker Barrell after the meal, really slowly so i would get to the practicelate. Well, I got there about 30 minutes late and Andra, who was running the practice, was not pleased. So, he made me, stand on the stage and sing both "light one candle" and "1-9-9-4" by myself in front of the whole camp. I don't know if any of you remember how bad my singing voice is, but at camp I was known for having the worst voice around. So, when Andra was "punishing me" by making me sing in front of camp, I didn't really know whether she was really punishing me, or everyone who had to listen to me sing. It was definitely one of my funnier Wa-Klo moments!!
