The Perfect 1st Time Experience
junior
program

Girls who have completed the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades have an excellent first experience at sleep-away camp because Wa-Klo provides a safe, family structured program full of fun activities, lots of friends and new discoveries.

Our youngest campers live near the Director's home in comfortable, modern bunks with a staff member for every 4 campers. They go together (usually singing and laughing) to activities, meals and special events. Secure in their group of the same age with similar skills, "Juniors" relax, have fun and enjoy a variety of athletic and creative programs.

Some "Junior" activities have been down-sized to fit, shortened to accommodate attention spans and all are flexible enough to respond to "little" camper energy and need for rest. Meals are with the group and their counselors.

There are many all-camp games, tribe activities, trips and events plus Big and Little Sister Fun! However, the core of the Junior Program is the small family unit. Each child is nurtured, supported, respected and treated as an individual.

Although we encourage a 4-week commitment for Juniors, we understand that the 1st time away from home may be more comfortable for a shorter period of time. To this end, we will accept Juniors for a 2-week program on a space-available basis.

Goals For The Junior Program...
• To create a "safe place" for "little" girls away from their families
• To offer age appropriate opportunities that are fun and encourage discovery
• To provide a living environment that encourages positive social interactions
• To offer a sampling of activities that encourage interests and broaden experiences
• To teach activities that build skills and earn achievement
• To help girls realize a sense of belonging and a place in the camp family
• To deliver an experience that increases self-awareness and confidence
