THE SEASON OF GIVING

We are in the season of giving, and what a lovely time of the year it is.  Getting caught up in the momentum of gift buying and witnessing the panic in shoppers gives me such a seasonal lift.  While others hate shopping this time of year, I seem to revel in it.  The energy of love abounds in December—we do the long lines, suffer through the traffic delays, and spend more money than we should all for the ones that we love.  When I’m standing in long lines, I take the time to listen to those in line with me.  I love hearing people discuss, “Do you think he’ll really like this shirt?  Maybe I should go with a different size?  Look at the bargain I got.”  When I’m fighting the car traffic, I just crank up the holiday tunes and sing as if I’m Kelly Clarkson.  And if I spend more money than I should, I just watch more TV instead of going out for a few months.  Call me a cock-eyed optimist, call me a cross-eyed enthusiast, call me anything but Scrooge, because I love the holiday season.

In the spirit of giving, we do hope that you think about donating to our Campership fund to help those who wouldn’t be able to go to camp without financial assistance.  If you would like to make a donation, please send a check to:  Camp Wa-Klo, P.O. Box 292, Sterling, MA 01564.  When writing your check, please make it payable to: American Camp Association Campership (ACA) Fund/Program. Please indicate Camp Wa-Klo in the memo line, so our camp will receive credit for your donation. You will receive acknowledgement of your donation from ACA for your tax records.  The positive impact a summer camp can have a child is truly powerful.   I wrote my check today, I hope you do too.  Again, thank you for your consideration.

Experience the love of the season and always remember the words from a famous song in the movie WHITE CHRISTMAS: “When I’m worried and I can’t sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep, And I fall asleep counting my blessings.”

Knee deep in the beautiful craziness of the season…
